FAITH FORMATION
“The starting point of a good life…is right faith.”
---St. Augustine, Sermon 43---
“I believe, in order to understand, and I understand, the better to believe.”
---St. Augustine, Confessions---
Formation in our Catholic faith is an ongoing process that begins in the home in early childhood and continues throughout our lives. Through faith formation, we grow in our understanding of the Catholic faith as revealed by God in Holy Scripture, handed down to the apostles through the teachings of Christ, and passed on through the movement of the Holy Spirit in the Tradition and Magisterium of the Church. This growth in understanding fosters our faith, strengthening our relationship with God, which in turn deepens our belief, propelling us to understand and believe yet more, in an ongoing, dynamic, living faith.
St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church seeks to aid parishioners in the faith formation process at all stages: in the preparation of adults for the Sacrament of Marriage and parents for the Sacrament of Baptism, in supporting families through the religious education program, beginning with Kindergarten students and continuing through post-Confirmation, including youth group programming for grades 6-12, and in providing adult faith formation opportunities.
